Casa Castillo 'Las Gravas'
Las Gravas comes from a vineyard planted by JosĂ© Maria's father Nemesio, on a blanket of broken stone that covers the bedrock some 30cm below. It's this soil that gives Las Gravas its distinct mineral stamp.Â
The vineyard was originally planted with local grapes, as well as Syrah, Cabernet and Merlot, which were grown on trellises rather the local custom of low bush vines.
Today the wine is focused only on the old vine Monastrell and Garnacha planted on that stunning white gravel that gives this wine it's name. Perfumed and light on it's feet, there is density of complexity and a brooding nature of the site. One of Casa Castillo's most desirable wines that rivals so many other in Spain too.
